Deer-Grove EMS provides 911 Emergency Medical Services to the communities of Cottage Grove, Deerfield, and Pleasant Springs, Wisconsin. DGEMS provides this service to a growing population of 13,000 over 87 square miles.
DGEMS is a Paramedic Service that is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year by a joint staff of paid professional and volunteer emergency care providers.
Deer-Grove EMS was formed in 1978 when the Villages and Towns of Cottage Grove and Deerfield drafted a municipal agreement to combine resources for the provision of Emergency Medical Services.
From 1978 to 1995 DGEMS provided emergency medical response at the EMT-Basic level.
Staffed by a group of dedicated volunteers, the service evolved in 1995 to become the only EMT-Intermediate service with Advanced Life Support capabilities in Dane County.
The service began operating at the Single Paramedic level in 2010.
DGEMS continues to grow to meet the needs of the communities we serve, responding to over 800 calls in 2009.
