Deer-Grove EMS is teaming up with the American Red Cross to host a community blood drive on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM in our Training Room at 4030 County Hwy N, Cottage Grove. We still have 32 open appointment slots, and we’d love to fill every one of them.
This year, the need is especially urgent. The Red Cross is already more than 350 donations behind its May goal, with no-shows and cancellations running higher than usual. Summer is consistently one of the toughest seasons for the blood supply, but patient needs don’t take a vacation. Someone in the U.S. needs a unit of blood every two to three seconds, and most of us will need blood at some point in our lives.
As EMS providers, we see firsthand how critical a strong blood supply is. The trauma patient on the way to the hospital, the new mom facing complications, the cancer patient mid-treatment: every one of them depends on volunteer donors who took an hour out of their day to give.
Here’s how you can help:
Schedule an appointment at redcrossblood.org and select our Cottage Grove drive. Walk-ins are welcome on the day of the drive, but appointments help us keep things moving smoothly.
Can’t donate yourself? You can still make a difference by sharing this post, telling friends and family, or asking your workplace or church to spread the word. A quick share on Facebook or a mention in a community group can go a long way.

To make donating even easier, download the Red Cross Blood Donor App on the App Store or Google Play, or text BLOODAPP to 90999. The app lets you schedule appointments, view your blood type and mini-physical results, and track your donations over time.
Thank you for supporting Deer-Grove EMS and the American Red Cross. We hope to see you on May 21.
